Prison officers intercepted 600 cigarettes after a pair of garden boots containing prohibited items was allegedly thrown over the perimeter wall of the Port of Spain Prison early Sunday morning.<\/p>\n
According to the Trinidad and Tobago Prison Service, the incident occurred at approximately 12:07 a.m. on Sunday, September 27, 2026.<\/p>\n
Officers attached to the Emergency Response Unit at the prison discovered the pair of garden boots after they were thrown over the wall. A search revealed a total of 600 cigarettes concealed inside.<\/p>\n
Acting Commissioner of Prisons Elvin Scanterbury commended the officers involved for their diligence and vigilance in intercepting the items.<\/p>\n
He said the discovery highlights continuing attempts by individuals to introduce contraband into correctional facilities.<\/p>\n
