James Farthing, the Kentucky man who won a record $167.3 million Powerball jackpot in April 2025, has been arrested for the fifth time since claiming the life-changing prize.<\/p>\n
The 51-year-old was taken into custody early on September 20 after deputies responded to a report involving a white Ford Mustang near a Walmart in Georgetown, Kentucky.<\/p>\n
Authorities said the vehicle was still running when deputies approached and found Farthing asleep inside. Officers reportedly knocked on the window for several minutes before he woke up.<\/p>\n
Deputies said Farthing showed signs of intoxication, including slurred speech, bloodshot and watery eyes and difficulty maintaining his balance. He was subsequently charged with alcohol intoxication in a public place.<\/p>\n
The latest incident marks Farthing’s fifth arrest in approximately 17 months since winning the Powerball jackpot.<\/p>\n
His previous legal troubles have included an April 2025 arrest in Florida involving battery and resisting an officer, an intimidation case earlier this year, burglary-related charges and domestic violence charges filed in July.<\/p>\n
Farthing pleaded not guilty to the July domestic violence charges.<\/p>\n
