In the video, Teelucksingh paints a stark picture: someone receiving a bank call approving a loan they never applied for, seeing insurance money deducted monthly for a policy they do not have, or discovering a credit card statement for an account they never opened. He said some victims were unaware until recently.<\/p>\n
He also claimed that one person he knows was turned down by a bank when attempting to report the issue. “They already turned down one person that I know already,” he said, adding that he suspects the fraud may be internal at some financial institutions. He referenced past cases where insurance agents allegedly had people sign off on policies without their knowledge, with money taken monthly until a relative checked.<\/p>\n
Teelucksingh described the situation as absurd, noting that fraudsters were able to qualify for a mortgage using someone else’s identity while the victim could not. He urged people to double and triple check their statements, especially for accounts they do not use regularly, such as old salary accounts or savings accounts.<\/p>\n
He called on anyone affected to lodge complaints with the Fraud Squad, the Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU), or other authorities, expressing uncertainty over whether banks would be held liable or willing to investigate. He also asked viewers to share in the comments if they or a relative had experienced similar fraud.<\/p>\n
