Kes Shares Emotional \u2018Full Circle\u2019 Stage Moment With Music Legend Stevie Wonder
\nTrinidad and Tobago soca star Kes has celebrated what he described as a remarkable \u201cfull circle moment\u201d after sharing the stage with legendary American singer and musician Stevie Wonder in Washington, DC.
\nThe memorable encounter came during the 2026 DC JazzFest, where Kes and his band were among the performers taking part in the festival.
\nBut beyond another international performance, the occasion became deeply personal for Kes when he found himself on stage alongside an artiste whose music had been part of his life since childhood.
\nSharing the moment on social media, Kes revealed that Stevie Wonder\u2019s hit \u201cI Just Called to Say I Love You\u201d carries special memories of his parents.
\n\u201cMy Dad used to play \u2018I Just Called to Say I Love You\u2019 to Mom when he was away,\u201d Kes wrote.
\nHe explained that it was the very first record he remembers having on repeat as a child, making the opportunity to eventually share a stage with Wonder particularly significant.
\n\u201cWhat a full circle moment it was to share the stage with you tonight!\u201d he wrote.
\nKes thanked Wonder for the influence and inspiration his music has provided throughout the years.
\n\u201cThank you for your Magic and Inspiration you share with us. We love you,\u201d Kes said.
\nHe also thanked DC JazzFest for having the band and described the encounter with Wonder as a \u201cbeautiful surprise\u201d.
\nThe appearance represented another international showcase for Trinidad and Tobago music, with Kes continuing to carry soca and Caribbean culture to audiences outside the region.
\nKes also expressed appreciation to everyone who attended and \u201cjammed\u201d with the band, saying they had a great time before telling fans he hoped to see them again in Washington, DC.
