Couple Weds in Flooded Philippine Church Despite Rising Waters<\/p>\n
A Filipino couple refused to let severe flooding stand in the way of their wedding, exchanging vows inside a partially submerged church as monsoon rains continued to affect parts of the Philippines.<\/p>\n
Leian Lieza Galang and Gilbert Chico were married on September 1 at Saint John the Baptist Church in Hagonoy, where floodwaters had entered the building and covered much of the floor.<\/p>\n
Images from the ceremony show the bride, dressed in her wedding gown and veil, making her way through the flooded church as relatives and members of the wedding party stood in the water alongside her.<\/p>\n
The wedding went ahead despite the difficult conditions caused by persistent monsoon rains and flooding in the area. The couple had reportedly been advised to consider postponing the ceremony as water levels rose, but chose to continue with their plans.<\/p>\n
Rather than allowing the flooding to bring the occasion to a halt, the couple and their families adapted to the unusual circumstances and proceeded with the ceremony.<\/p>\n
Their wedding has since attracted attention online, with images of the bride and wedding party standing in floodwater offering a striking picture of determination amid challenging weather conditions.<\/p>\n
The Philippines regularly experiences severe flooding during its rainy and typhoon seasons, with prolonged rainfall capable of inundating communities and disrupting transportation, businesses and public events.<\/p>\n
For Galang and Chico, however, September 1 remained their wedding day.<\/p>\n
Their ceremony transformed what could have been a major disruption into an unusual wedding moment with the couple choosing to begin their married life despite the floodwaters surrounding them.<\/p>\n
