In a significant operation against the illegal drug trade, the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) seized approximately 416.5 kilogrammes of cocaine valued at TT$193,522,560. This major drug bust occurred in the Longdenville Police District during an intelligence-led exercise that spanned from September 2nd to 3rd, 2026.<\/p>\n
The operation was meticulously coordinated by Acting Assistant Commissioner of Police, Kerwin Francis, and operational leadership was provided by Acting Assistant Superintendent of Police, St. Clair. The search focused on premises along Pokhor Road in Longdenville, where officers targeted suspected concealment of illegal firearms and narcotics.<\/p>\n
Under the authority of Section 12 of the Emergency Powers Regulations 2026, law enforcement officers conducted a thorough search of a residence, warehouse, and its surrounding compound. Within the warehouse, they discovered six large backhoe tyres mounted on rims, which upon closer inspection, contained 420 rectangular packages of cocaine.<\/p>\n
A 42-year-old businessman from the British Virgin Islands was arrested on suspicion of involvement in the narcotics trade, alongside two Saint Lucian nationals, aged 38 and 37. Customs and Excise officers assisted in weighing and recording the seized packages.<\/p>\n
The confiscated drugs were transported to the Special Investigations Unit in Port of Spain, while the suspects are being held at the St Joseph Police Station as investigations continue.
