The Barbados-Cuba Friendship Association has called for Caribbean solidarity and regional protests in response to what it described as growing threats by the United States toward Cuba.<\/p>\n
In a statement issued Sunday, association president David Denny condemned what he called aggressive actions against Cuba and urged Caribbean citizens to organise demonstrations outside U.S. embassies across the region.<\/p>\n
Denny said the Caribbean Movement for Peace and Integration joined the call, stressing that the Caribbean must continue to be recognised as a \u201czone of peace.\u201d<\/p>\n
He also encouraged Barbadians to stand in solidarity with the Cuban people and government amid rising regional tensions.<\/p>\n
The comments follow recent statements by Donald Trump, who reportedly claimed the United States would be \u201ctaking over\u201d Cuba \u201calmost immediately.\u201d<\/p>\n
Miguel D\u00edaz\u2011Canel responded on Saturday, warning that threats of military aggression against Cuba had reached what he described as a \u201cdangerous and unprecedented level.\u201d<\/p>\n
