{"id":389,"date":"2026-05-03T20:30:03","date_gmt":"2026-05-03T20:30:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/tringlobe.news\/?p=389"},"modified":"2026-05-03T20:30:03","modified_gmt":"2026-05-03T20:30:03","slug":"iwitness-news","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tringlobe.news\/?p=389","title":{"rendered":"iWitness News"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Taiwan awarded EC$320,000 in bursaries to 524 students across Saint Vincent and the Grenadines under the Taiwanese Human Resource Development Programme.<\/p>\n<p>The bursaries support students at the primary, secondary, tertiary and technical levels, including recipients from Bequia, Mustique and the Southern Grenadines.<\/p>\n<p>Taiwan\u2019s Ambassador to Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Fiona Huei-Chun Fan, said more than 12,500 Vincentian students have benefited from the programme since 1998.<\/p>\n<p>Fan said 321 Vincentians have studied in Taiwan at the bachelor\u2019s, master\u2019s and doctoral levels in areas including agriculture, healthcare, culinary arts and technology.<\/p>\n<p>The ambassador encouraged students to pursue opportunities in technology and information and communication fields, highlighting Taiwan\u2019s global role in semiconductors, AI servers, laptops and smartphone components.<\/p>\n<p>Godwin Friday described the relationship between Taiwan and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines as a \u201cpartnership between peoples\u201d built through education and cultural ties over 45 years of diplomacy.<\/p>\n<p>Friday stressed that education is the country\u2019s most valuable resource, saying SVG\u2019s greatest strength is the intelligence and health of its people.<\/p>\n<p>He also urged teachers to treat education as a serious vocation because their influence on students can last a lifetime.<\/p>\n<p>Minister of State in the Ministry of Education, Lavern King, said 244 bursaries went to primary school students, 190 to secondary school students and 90 to tertiary or technical students.<\/p>\n<p>King said the assistance is intended to help cover transportation, nutrition, uniforms and school supplies for students and families.<\/p>\n<p>She noted that recipients were selected based on academic excellence or resilience in overcoming challenges.<\/p>\n<p>The government also reaffirmed its commitment to supporting students with disabilities and those from underprivileged backgrounds to ensure inclusive access to education.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>iWitness News<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":388,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[64],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-389","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-saint-vincent-and-the-grenadines"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/tringlobe.news\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/389","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/tringlobe.news\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/tringlobe.news\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/tringlobe.news\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/users\/1"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/tringlobe.news\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcomments&post=389"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/tringlobe.news\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/389\/revisions"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/tringlobe.news\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/media\/388"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/tringlobe.news\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fmedia&parent=389"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/tringlobe.news\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcategories&post=389"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/tringlobe.news\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Ftags&post=389"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
