These applications represent approximately 668 schools and institutions, marking a significant increase from previous years. The review process, which began after the application period from June 22 to July 11, 2026, is now advancing to the final verification stage.

During the verification process, approximately 10,000 applications are expected to be confirmed by August 28, 2026, with the remaining applications set for completion by September 2, 2026. The Ministry aims to begin disbursing payments to eligible applicants by this date. Priority for the grants is given to unemployed individuals, low-income households, families with multiple dependents, children with special needs, and those already receiving government assistance.

The grant amounts vary: students from Infant 1 through Standard 5, as well as Form 1 and Form 3 through Upper 6 students, are eligible for $1,000. However, students entering Form 2 will receive $500, reflecting the Ministry’s provision of six books with embedded learning support for use with their laptops.

Parents and guardians can monitor the status of their applications through the Ministry’s Book Grant online portal. The Ministry has pledged to keep applicants informed about cheque distribution and other updates through its official communication channels. This large-scale initiative underscores the Ministry’s commitment to assisting vulnerable students in accessing necessary educational resources.

[62

post-3859","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-trinidad-and-tobago
["GET
