The accused, Kimraj Nandlal, appeared before Justice of the Peace Carl Dattoo on August 19, 2026, and was granted bail set at $120,000 with surety.

The charges stem from an incident dating back to July 3, 2025, where Nandlal allegedly deceived a business owner in Sangre Grande. He reportedly promised to pay for glass products and other materials via an online bank transfer. However, the payment was never made, and a post-dated cheque given in its place was later dishonored.

Efforts by the victim to recover the outstanding amount were unsuccessful, prompting a report to the Fraud Squad (East). Corporal (Ag.) Thomas led the investigation, which culminated in a coordinated operation on August 17, 2026. Law enforcement officers arrested Nandlal at his Freeport residence.

The operation and subsequent arrest were supervised by Senior Superintendent Jackman, W/Supt. Theodore-Persad, and ASP Thomas, among others. After consulting with legal officers, Nandlal was officially charged on August 18, 2026.

Nandlal is scheduled to appear before a Master of the High Court on August 21, 2026. The case highlights the ongoing efforts of law enforcement to tackle fraud and protect business owners from deceptive practices.

[62

post-3601","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-trinidad-and-tobago
["GET
