Motorist Blasts TTPS Over Impound Lot Experience<\/p>\n
A Trinidad and Tobago motorist has gone viral after sharing her frustration with the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS), describing what she called a frustrating experience after her vehicle was towed for parking near a bus stop.<\/p>\n
In the video, the woman said she accepted that her vehicle had been towed after she realized she had parked in a restricted area. However, she took issue with how the vehicle was handled during the towing process, claiming it appeared to be lifted at an angle that left her concerned about possible damage.<\/p>\n
She also criticized officers for refusing to give her a lift to the impound lot, saying she had to walk there to retrieve her vehicle.<\/p>\n
According to the motorist, the biggest frustration came when she arrived at the impound lot and discovered there was no LYNX machine or other electronic payment option available. She said she was then forced to walk to MovieTowne to withdraw cash before returning to pay the required fees.<\/p>\n
Questioning why the facility still operates on a cash-only basis, she argued that many fruit vendors, doubles vendors and small shop owners across Trinidad and Tobago accept electronic payments, while a government-operated impound lot does not.<\/p>\n
She also suggested that simple alternatives, such as bank transfers, should be available to the public.<\/p>\n
The woman further criticized the attitude of officers at the facility, claiming they wore what she described as a “smirk” while members of the public tried to reclaim their vehicles.<\/p>\n
She went on to argue that if the TTPS devoted the same level of effort to investigating serious crime as it does to towing vehicles and issuing traffic tickets, the country would be a much safer place.<\/p>\n
The video has since generated significant discussion online, with many social media users sharing similar experiences at the police impound lot, while others defended the towing of illegally parked vehicles but questioned why modern payment methods are still unavailable in 2026.<\/p>\n
